Its been raining alright, heres the view from the hut at dunkeld house beat today, sunday May 22 nd and the height is 6 ft 3 inches and chocolate brown. Lets hope the rain stops!!!!

May 20th two fish today

On friday May 20th there were two fish landed on dunkeld house beat, it was a shame as the rods that booked did not turn up. So it was upto Simon Furniss to catch the two fish of the day harling a fly in the gauge pool, in this image its a 7lbs fish, there was also an 11 lbs fish landed on this day.

Better later than never, this is the 13 lbs fish from Dunkeld house beat taken by simon furniss harling in the Cathedral pool, bottom pot, the fly was a willie gunn.

May 19 th two fish landed

On May 19th Dunkeld house beat, we managed to land two fish. Here is an image of the 15 lbs fish taken from our Cutty stone croy, on the top beat of the dunkeld house beat river Tay.

The second fish was 10 lbs, landed by Andrew Toft on a black and yellow bottle tube whilst trying the new Mackenzie DTX SH ROD with the new G2 SHOOTING HEAD Line

Tuesday 17th may with 2ft 6inches on the gauge , water clearer than monday and less windy.

Ian and Ryan's second day out on Dunkeld Beat and we have fish(at last) or at least they are hanging about. Ian on the bank at the gauge tree and Ryan in the boat, fish heading and tailing in the tail of the gauge pool. Ian hooks into this 12 lbs fish, and Ryan hooks into a fish briefly, but falls off!!!!!!!!!!!

A "first fish" for lousie Farrell fishing with the Deacon party this week on dunkeld house beat.

The fish weighed in at 11 lbs and was also liced, what a result!!!!

Martin Deacon also landed a 9 lbs fresh fish on thursday in our lady pool just in front of our hut, which was in full sunlight, who'd of thought you could catch fresh fish on the fly, with the sun shining downstream. just goes to show you.

Here we have a 15 lb fish landed today, friday 11 th march caught from the boat by Simon Furniss on a vision 110. This fish was tagged and returned, so let us know if you catch this fish later on this season???

Here we have a 16 lb fish for Brian Joseph today, wednesday 02 march. This fish took a silver salmo toby and was tagged below the dorsal fin, with a tag ref 001. Should anyone catch this fish, even as a kelt next year, please let us know.

A March Fish From Dunkeld House Beat Today

Here we have an 18 lber from the beat today, taken by Simon Furniss on a copper salmo harled from the boat. This fish came from the Groto area of the beat, after a serious battle this afternoon.

The river level at Dunkeld is getting down to the height we prefer , so hopefully this fish will not be the only one in the next few days!

Here's a photo of a 21 lbs fish caught today from the dunkeld house beat river Tay whilst harling from the boat. The fish took a rapala type lure and was returned safely.

Here are some photos of fish landed during the last week of January 2011. Excellent water conditions,from 3 ft on the gauge, dropping throughout the week to a level of 1ft 9 inches. Good job the water was low as you will see in the following photos.

The season 2011 gets underway today with a 16 lbs fish to the boat of Simon Furniss.
He was harling the Fifey today and landed this excellent fish of 16 pounds along with various other kelts,baggots and rawners all returned.

Today, 17 march 12 pound fish taken while harling the Girnal pool on dunkeld house
beat river Tay. This fish took a pink/white kynoch after 15 mins of starting.
Excellent morning so far.

We are out the rest of the week, so here's hoping. The water height on wednesday is 3ft 11 inches and steady.

Dunkeld House Beat today 17.02.10 was 1 ft 3 inches today on the gauge and clear, excellent conditions for a Dunkeld springer today

Yet again today we have a great water height at Dunkeld fishing beat River

Tay, where we thought we were into a fresh spring fish in our cathedral pool on the fly expertly
played by master Zak Keil.

Only to find out that it was a well mended kelt of about 8 Lbs. Maybe next time Zak.

Just an update about Dunkeld House Fishing beat river Tay
Here are some photos from the beat taken today saturday 13th Feb, where we only managed to land some kelts and unseasonal fish, even though the conditions were excellent although very cold, but the water was clear and the beat height was at 1 ft 6 inches first thing this morning and finishing up at 1ft 3 inches.

the fish weighed in at 13 lbs and was caught on a white and yellow kynoch lure by

Simon was only out for a couple of hours today, since the boat was not booked for today.
As well as this fish, Dunkeld house beat had loads of kelts and baggots today.

Here we have the water height on Friday 29th reading 3 ft 9 inches.
Looking good for the rods that have booked for Saturday. A cold night to come, so we should see a few inches off the height by Saturday.

Maybe give the latest creations a swim and see if they can attract a fresh fish on Saturday?

Scott MacKenzie at Dunkeld House River Tay

Dunkeld House Fishing are very pleased to announce that Scott Mackenzie, creator of the DTX fly rod range, will be holding a casting course in March 11th - 14th (thursday evening through to sunday morning).

The course is limited to 12 people, staying at the Dunkeld Hilton, fishing/casting on the Dunkeld House beat with Scott MacKenzie.

Once you have mastered your single/double/cirlcle spey casts under Scott's instruction, Dunkeld House beat is available to each of the 12 students to fish on, with the beat ghillies and boats if required.

This was the height at 11 am this morning. The water came up 4ft 6 inches overnight and at three this afternoon it was just over 6 feet on the gauge.
